Laminated Safety Glass
At Cleargard® , we have two types of high-performance materials, both of which meet the needs of demanding industrial applications. Whether polycarbonate or laminated glass, our sales team will advise and support you in your choice of materials, taking into account the constraints of different sectors, in order to combine safety, durability and performance.
Because your safety is our priority, we offer you ‘the new safety glass’. Always keen to satisfy its customers, Cleargard® offers tailor-made solutions for every application, with coatings that are resistant to abrasion, chemicals and solvents.
Cleargard® laminated glazing for emergency and police vehicles offers a number of technical advantages:
- Acoustic attenuation: up to -3 to -5 dB compared to single-glazed glass
- Light transmission: excellent, with the option of anti-reflective or tinted treatment
- Impact resistance: superior to that of single-glazed glass
- Standard thickness: from 5 mm to 12 mm (or more, depending on requirements)
- UV protection: up to 99% UV blocking with certain films
Our vision: get everyone safely back home every day.
For this reason, our laminated glass is designed for:
- Law enforcement
- Emergency services (fire departments, ambulances, rescue services)
- OEMs & equipment manufacturers (small series & adaptations)
- Private sector (VIP protection, etc.)
Advantages of Cleargard® custom laminated glass
- Increased safety: even when broken, the glass is held in place by interlayer films
- The NS (non-split) spall liner remains watertight after any impact, protecting the occupants of Molotov cocktails etc.
- Burglar-proof: delays intrusion
- Acoustic insulation: acoustic films can be added to improve sound comfort
- Versatility: laminated glass can be clear, tinted or screen-printed
- Durability: its resistance to shocks, impacts and break-ins makes it a durable material for demanding sectors.
Basic protection
Our standard laminated safety glass complies strictly with European standard EN-356 P1A, designed to effectively withstand multiple impacts equivalent to 60 joules of energy. This configuration offers reliable protection against common threats.
Technical specifications:
- Thickness: 4.9 mm for optimised weight
- Weight: 11 kg/m², a 12% reduction compared to tempered glass
- Resistance: Multiple impacts of 3 x 60J according to P1A protocol
This solution is ideal for standard use, offering excellent protection against thrown objects while maintaining optimal transparency and controlled weight.
Enhanced resistance to manual attacks
Anti-vandalism range – EN-356 P2A to P4A
Our reinforced anti-vandalism glazing is available in various certified versions, capable of absorbing multiple impacts of 120 to 360 joules according to classes P2A, P3A and P4A. This glazing is remarkably thin (5 to 5.1 mm) and lightweight, combining security with practicality.
Technical performance:
- Class P2A: 3 x 120J – Thickness 5.1 mm – Weight 12 kg/m²
- Class P3A: 3 x 180J – Reinforced protection against repeated blows
- Class P4A: 3 x 360J – High resistance to manual attack
The multi-layer structure with reinforced PVB films ensures that fragments are held in place in the event of breakage, while preserving the structural integrity of the glazing.
Protection against moving projectiles
High-resistance solution – EN-356 P5A
Specially adapted for vehicles likely to be exposed to stone throwing or other ballistic attacks, these windows can withstand impact energies of 9 x 360 joules. They are approximately 6.8 mm thick, ensuring superior safety for high-risk applications.
Advanced specifications:
- Resistance: 9 x 360J – Multiple high-energy impacts
- Thickness: 6.8 mm for maximum shock absorption
- Weight: 15.1 kg/m² – Optimal safety/performance compromise
- Applications: Emergency vehicles, cash transport, high-risk areas
This configuration uses thick PVB interlayers for optimal energy dissipation while maintaining the required optical properties.
Advanced security against small arms and Molotov cocktails
EN-1063 BR1 protection and police testing
Some models meet European standards EN-1063 BR1 and police and fire brigade resistance tests. They can withstand multiple impacts with sharp objects or small-calibre ammunition (.22LR), as well as Molotov cocktail attacks. These glazing units are up to 11.9 mm thick for maximum strength.
Certified performance:
- Resistance .22 LR – resistance from 4 x 240J peak to 6 x 120J
- Molotov cocktail test: validated according to police protocols
- Thickness: from 9.1 to 11.9 mm
- Weight: from 18.9 to 22 kg/m²
Laminated glass guarantees no shards on the passenger side, ideal for critical applications.
Optionally, a splinter-proof layer can be added for even greater safety.
